BCA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics

The Black Coaches Association (BCA) established the BCA Basketball Invitational and the BCA Football Classic games to generate revenue to benefit the BCA national and local charitable organizations. The BCA established the Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship (EMPGS) in 1995 to support and encourage minorities who wish to pursue a career in athletics. Over $400,000 has been contributed to the fund.

The EMPG Scholarship has been established to increase the pool of opportunities for qualified minority candidates in intercollegiate athletics.

The BCA awards scholarships to ethnic minorities of post-graduate studies. The applicant must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports-administration or related program that will assist the applicant in obtaining a career in athletics. Each award is valued at $2500.

The BCA EMPGS program application is available on the website at www.bcasports.org or by contacting Lauren I. Peterson, Director of Operations and Administration at (317) 829-5619. The deadline for submission is May 1st of the current academic year.

The application with supporting documents must be mailed to the BCA National Office and postmarked no later than May 1st in order to be eligible for the BCA EMPGS Program.
