06/11/2009 - Irvin was one of 20 coaches selected for the clinic run by the Black Coaches and Administrators, one of 10 men, and the only one from the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU men's coach Chris Lowery, SIU athletic director Mario Moccia and former Southern Methodist University coach Matt Doherty all wrote letters of recommendation for Irvin.

05/12/2009 - University of Delaware President Patrick Harker announced today that Bernard Muir (at right) will be the new Director of Athletics and Recreation Services.
Muir, a former collegiate athlete, will begin his duties on Monday, July 6. Muir has served as director of athletics (Francis X. Rienzo Chair) at Georgetown University of the Big East Conference since 2005.

05/11/2009 - Minority football coaches are getting within reach of major-college head coaching jobs at an increasing rate, but their progress in making that final move isn't keeping pace, a USA TODAY study has found.
05/06/2009 - Dr. Derrick Gragg, Eastern Michigan University director of intercollegiate athletics, has been named Administrator of the Year for 2008-09 by the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA).
Gragg will be honored at the BCA National Convention and Expo awards banquet Friday, May 29 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis, Ind. The event is open to the public. Registration and information is located at www.bcasports.org.

2008 BCA "Achieving Coaching Excellence"
The ACE program is an intense four (4) day workshop which will encompass a wealth of information pertaining to on-court and off court sessions for assistant coaches that are poised for advancing to the next level. This annual program will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana during the dates of June 1-4, 2008. ACE Applications will be accepted now through Friday, April 18, 2008.
2007 was the inaugural year for the ACE for Men's Program; however the ACE for Women will be entering its sixth year. Aimed to further the mission and vision of advancement for minority men and women in athletics, the ACE Program is designed to assist an already talented group to become the next generation of collegiate head basketball coaches.
Completion of the ACE program will advance coaching skills and marketability of "up and coming" ethnic minorities. It will also assist with developing the total coach in the areas of communications, budget planning, X's and O's and program development. Apply today and maximize your abilities!
All completed applications and supporting documents must be returned to Floyd A. Keith, Executive Director, Black Coaches & Administrators. Applications must be post marked by April 18, 2008 for consideration. Enrollment is limited so be sure to apply early for consideration.
The BCA ACE selection committee will review all applications. Selections will be finalized no later than May 2, 2008. Selections are based on the criteria of each applicant and all candidates will be notified immediately. All information submitted to the BCA will become property of BCA and will not be returned.

Hiring Report Cards
BCA will release two additional Hiring Report Cards in the fall of 2007. This fall, in addition to releasing the BCA Hiring Report Card for NCAA Division IA-I-AA football, the BCA will introduce two more hiring report cards. One for NCAA Division I women's basketball in addition to one for NCAA Division I athletic directors.
